2010 Christmas Cantata and Christmas Party

On December 19, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. the Dyer First UMC Choir and children's choir presented the annual Christmas Cantata this year, "O Holy Night!". Our youth and children participated in the program telling the story of the birth of Jesus. A party followed with a special guest. Santa Claus came to town!!!!

Ice Cream Social

On September 19, 2010 our sister church, Grier's Chapel UMC were our honored guest for an old fashioned Ice Cream Social. Sandwiches and all the fixin's were served as well as several different churns of homemade ice cream and desserts. Very Good!!! We all screamed for ice cream.

The Summer of 2010 and our UMYF

Our UMYF has had a full summer this year!! Not only have they painted and spruced up their room, thay found time to go to the McCurdy's pool and a day trip to Nashville to visit the Upper Room, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and toured The West End UMC Church. They took some lessons on the beautiful pipe organ. Jamie, Ken and Rev Barnett chaperoned.

In June we got a new Minister. Reverend Don Barnett. The best part about getting a new minister is we get his family too!! We welcome Rev. Barnett, Elizabeth and Beth to our church family. On June 11, 2010 we POUNDED the Barnetts!! No one was hurt but everyone had a great time and the gifts were truly appreciated by the family.

UMYF met on May 09, 2010 to assemble kits for the flood victims which will be distributed by the UMCOR. When the work was complete, the group took off to eat at El Vallarta in Trenton.

United Methodist Men had their annual "wild game" supper on Aril 19th, 2010. Items on the menu were
deer burgers, fried duck, pheasant, swamp rabbit, dove and lots more with all the trimmings!! Members and guest enjoyed the delicious cuisine. Thank you Harry Tignor for coordinating!!

The Coffee Break for Christ group took a road trip on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. They traveled to Adamsville, TN to have lunch at the Sawmeal restuarant, visited the location of Buford Pusser's accident, traveled to Henco's in Selmer. A very good day.

Fields, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, Bonnie & Clyde, Julia Child, Julia Roberts and Shirley Temple!!! Great time and a great job.

SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES

On Sunday evening,Februaury 28,2010 the Youth met at their usual time of 5:00 p.m. Siler planned the activity and Brother Bullock judged. Winners took home gum!! At 6:00 p.m. we had two movie showings. In the Fellowship Hall "Fireproof" was viewed and in the Youth Classroom "Killing The Giants". We had a great crowd!! Thanks once again Pat Fesmire for your planning and dedicated work.

The Chancel Choir and Children presented their Christmas Cantata, "Jesus: There's Something About That Name" on December 20. It was a wonderful performance. Santa Claus made an appearance at the reception following the performance.

Each year the Dyer Christmas Parade concludes right in front of Dyer First UMC, and for several years, the mayor has hosted a reception in our church basement. We're glad to host the mayor and his guests, our community.

We expected a magician ... but he must have vanished into thin air. Always ready to adapt, the Dyer Methodists ate wonderful food and had a sing along! Everyone had a great time!
